Tansi Everyone!
News of Drumbeat has spread fast, and as predicted, we are really starting to gain momentum! Our 3rd issue has a lot to offer has far as opportunities for youth. From the Weekend University in northern British Columbia to First Nations programs at Camosun College in Victoria, as well as a number of internship opportunities and conferences, we are just beginning to touch on what’s available out there! We have a wide array of youth voices, including an exciting article on Jonathan Couchman and the HG Productions theatre troupe from Duncan, who are currently performing the play “Soar High as the Eagle”. We are delighted to share Jonathan’s play with the readers of Drumbeat – there are even four videos that can be downloaded and watched as you read through the play!
Again, I want to mention our PHOTO CONTEST as the deadline, which hadn’t been previously advertised, is MARCH 3, 2006. We are proud to announce that the top prize is a digital camera! We want to have these photos ready for display at the Gathering Our Voices 2006 Aboriginal Youth Conference in March, so, get your entries in ASAP!
As always, I will mention that this publication is dependant on the enthusiasm of you, the reader. The enthusiasm is out there and contagious! Let’s keep it up! Keep sending me your ideas, submissions, etc. I want to hear from you!
See you in Kamloops in March!
