The winner of Drumbeat’s survey and submission contest was Megan Clarkson!

Megan is a 21 year old youth from the Sayisi Dene First Nation. She is a proud mother of one, a baby boy, and caregiver of her 8 year old nephew. Megan has spent all of her life in an urban setting on Vancouver Island and now resides in Victoria , where she works as a Youth Mentor at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre. She has spent the last 6 years representing youth in the Friendship Centre movement, and has sat as the BCAAFC Youth Executive Rep for the past year. Youth issues are a priority for Megan, and she hopes to stay in the Friendship Centre movement wherever the path may lead her in the future.

Megan won a hand-made drum and has already been busy painting on a design. Many thanks to Carl Mashon who made the drum and kindly donated it to Drumbeat!
